SAP Additional Functionality

At SAP Financial Solutions we believe SAP functionality should not be considered in isolation from other potential vendors. Best of breed systems from other vendors can be integrated seamlessly with SAP to provide greater benefits or lower cost. We describe examples of essential additional functionality below:

1. Data Warehouse

We believe every SAP application should have an integrated data warehouse to provide reporting flexibility outside the main SAP environment. SAP financial solutions can design and implement the data warehouse of your choice based on your budget and requirements.

The two products we recommend are SAP Netweaver BI and Oracle (Hyperion) Essbase. Both of these products have additional modules to provide complete consolidation functionality.

2. Workflow / Email / Fax Solutions

SAP has inbuilt workflow capabilities including the external emailing of forms. In this day and age we think it is a shame not to get each invoice authorised online or each report signed off electronically. Additionally these processes can be emailed directly from SAP to user inboxes: for example Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes.

SAP also has inbuilt email and fax capabilities that we can configure to work with your existing systems.

3. Scanning Solutions

A scanning solution is imperative for the modern paperless office. The most common use is to scan external invoices into SAP and link the images to the transaction posted . A world class implementation will incorporate optical character recognition (OCR) technology to automatically post the invoices in the system. Other forms to be scanned and uploaded into SAP could include external purchase orders, expense claims or time sheets.

At SAP Financial Solutions we implement Readsoft OCR technology.

4. Payment Gateways

Payment gateways are a link from the SAP system to the banking system. In the UK payments can be sent in real time (CHAPS) or over a three day clearing cycle (BACS). Payments can be collected automatically through direct debiting customer accounts or by credit card payments.

The payment gateway can be provided by your bank or be sourced from a third party. We can integrate any payment gateway into SAP along with the appropriate controls. In certain cases it may be necessary to arrange for additional hardware to support this part of the implementation.
